Zetsuen no tempest5/30/2023 Her anger could also stem from her ambivalence towards destroying the Tree of Genesis. She bases her anger off the fact that Mahiro will have no one to kill, that Yoshino will have no one to hate and that they won’t be completely able to move on with their lives. But Aika tells her it may seem that way but really isn’t, that she did what she had to, to ensure things worked out for a better cause. Hakaze doesn’t want to believe this, finding it illogical and unreasonable to kill herself just for this cause. Excepting the end of the Tree of Genesis. I’m wondering if Aika actually has some lurking psychic ability because just as she planned it, the events went according to her own script. That way, her death would throw everything into place and motivate Hakaze to destroy the tree of Genesis. Aika killed herself to ensure Hakaze’s future connection with both Mahiro and Yoshino, to change her loyalty against the tree of Genesis (after it “killed” Yoshino) and destroy it. If Hakaze continues her loyalty to Genesis, protecting it, then civilization would be destroyed because it’s life force would be sustained. The Suicide Logic: As the mage of Exodus, Aika only has one goal, which is to defeat the Tree of Genesis. A great motive but a foolhardy one in Hakaze’s eyes. Hakaze was also stunned by this truth but Aika had a motive. Probably he would think the entire idea of suicide was illogical and absurd. And that is Mahiro would have no one to kill. Now there are a lot of things to consider here, if Aika actually committed suicide. But Aika’s nonchalance probably stems from the fact that she reveals herself being the actual killer of…herself. Another thing was how flippant she was to the news that she was going to be killed. Actually she was really hilarious in this episode as she became the detective to solve the case of her own murder. But in this episode, Aika continues into her true personality that witty, dramatic and funny person she’s always been. That glint in her eyes really worked on me. Her eyes and her sinister-like tone had everything to do with why my perspective changed. I’ve retracted all my thoughts of her being evil after her grand introduction as the mage of Exodus from episode 20. The 21st episode of Zetsuen continued with Aika and Hakaze’s confrontation.
